I very often find unique paintings from unknown artists at auctions and flea markets.
Although the pieces are not priceless, they can be amazing jumping-off points for your design.
This painting features both vibrant cool tones and an amazing sun glow. The same on-line auction provided me with a mixed metal table, which reflects cool and warm tones of the room. And the table’s shape is a nod to room’s organic theme.

Again, I use neutrals on the larger furniture and certain special pieces in the room. A well designed room never goes out of style, but should continue to evolve. Warm/cool tone combinations will withstand the decorator test-of-time as long as you keep the elements of the space well balanced.
